Wrinkled Finger tips

My beautiful daughter Cait, (who I forgot to mention in the last post and who is a bridesmaid in her brother's wedding), came over Sunday afternoon to help make mosaic stepping stones. The Golden Egg Studio has been invited to be a vendor at the Connecticut Horticultural Society's next symposium on February 6, 2010.

I used gloves when I was mixing the cement but I wore the fingertips off so my hands were all puckered and wrinkly when I finished. I followed the directions, but this is still an experiment so I will keep my fingers crossed that all the stained glass and broken crockery we embedded as decorations will stick.Time will tell if our endeavor was a success. I'm not supposed to touch them for 2 days.

It has been awhile...

2009 is behind us and 2010 looms ahead. No wait that sounds way too ominous. Let's start again

2010 is awaiting us full of adventures and surprises.

One of the sdventures I will be enjoying will be my son's wedding in August. I already have the dress: Now I need to work on the body to get into the dress.

My focus this year will be on being the best person I can be and that means letting go of some things and focusing on others. The shop will take a backseat as my husband and I spruce up the homestead for the big event. We are having the wedding in our backyard!

I will continue to teach art and crafts and Ellen, Cait and I will focus on the internet side of the business, creating a new website that will allow us to sell the wonderful things we have in the shop.

I am also going to be working with the wonderful Deb Ramthun
http://colorintheshadows.com/ on etching and printing. I am so excited!
I just signed up for:

Stay tuned for more updates on the adventures in 2010.

Chili Update!

Cait here- Busy, busy, busy! All of a sudden it gets nice out and there aren't enough hours in the day! I lucked out for the Chili Cook-off! The weather people threatened rain but it held off and other than a blustery start, we had a gorgeous day and what a turn out! I had the pleasure of meeting some lovely ladies, Kay and Stephanie, from the shoreline area- who make kids' accessories including bibs, onesies, and a special 'Mom Kit' that Kay will have to explain! I also had the pleasure of trying some amazing chilis containing everything from chocolate to apples. There was also a bacon brittle that was surprisingly good, but I do recommend an open mind & palette! A lovely lady from Amigo's Hot Sauce, changed my world with a carrot and mango sauce! I can't wait for next year so mark your calendars May 1, 2010!

Egg-Ceptional Spellers

Last Thursday, Deb, Arlene, her sister, and two of her closest friends, Evie and Mary Jane, competed in an adult spelling bee to benefit the RHAM Education Fund. Although I was only there for support, I am a RHAM High school graduate. It was great to see former teachers, vice principals, and super-intendants try to spell their way to victory. Although we tied for third, I have to say that our handmade t-shirts came in first! Congratulations to all those who participated and thanks to all those who donated their time, services, and delicious treats!
